Suiter, his wife, Josephine Davisson Suiter, and their daughter, Josephine Suiter, were long-time residents of Scott County, Iowa. James died on December 25, 1911; mother Josephine died on August 27, 1913; and daughter Josephine died on October 25, 1908. James W. Suiter, one of the oldest residents of Scott County, born at LeClaire in 1842 and a jeweler in Davenport for the last fifteen years, died at his home, 806 W. Second St. James Winfred Suiter, who was a member of the Scott County Pioneer Settlers' Association, and of the LeClaire Pioneer Society, was born in LeClaire April 5, 1842, and grew up to young manhood in that town. He studied at Abington College, Illinois, and following graduation there taught school for several years. For the greater part of his life, he was engaged in the jewelry business, coming to Davenport to engage in that trade fifteen years ago, and locating at 806 W. Second St. He is survived by his four children, Edwin P. Suiter of Butte, Montana, James W. Suiter, Miss Sarah Suiter, and Mrs. Emma Moorhead of Montpelier, Iowa.
