DEATH TAKES MISS JULIA BROWN
Miss Julia A. Brown died at her home here at 11:o'clock, Staturday after two months illness of cancer, during which time she bore the most intense suffering with wonderful courage and cheer.
Julia Ann Brown, daughter of Samuel and Sally Ann Brown, was born at Bath, N. Y. , Jan. 14, 1854, and when a very small child came to this vicinity, where she was educated and spent her entire life. She is survived by three brothers, S. R. Brown of Cary, Darwin and Melvin Brown of Wauconda, and one sister, Mrs. Martha Osgood of Cary.
The funeral was held at the home on Tuesday at 2 o'clock, Rev. Frank E. Heminger, pastor of the M. E. church, officiating, and interment was made in the family lot at the Cary cemetery.
Mis Brown was a splendid woman, public-spirited and broad-minded, always more than willing to do her share in anything that was for the betterment of the community. She was a great lover of her home, and there she loved to have gathered around her friends and relatives to enjoy good times together. She was secretary of the Royal Neighbor lodge for the past twenty-three years, and was always pleasant and efficient in her work, and was also a member of the Eastern Star lodge of Crystal Lake, where she often went to attend the meetings. She has had charge of the work at the Cary cemetery, and it was always her pride to keep it looking its best. She was a member of the H. B. club, a social club which was started seven years ago, and the members of which enjoyed so many good times together. Miss Brown is the first one of the club to be called to the great beyond.
The funeral was very largely attended and the floral pieces were beautiful and abundant, showing the high esteem in which the deceased was held by all. Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Raue and family, Mrs. Josephine Daley, Mrs. E. J. King, Mrs. A. W. Mink, Mrs. G. D. Crabtree. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Tomisky and Mrs. Wm. Gruenwald, all of Crystal lake. Mrs. Alice Richartds and son, Paul of Clarion,Ia., Mr. and Mrs. John Canvin, D. C. Mooore, Miss Fay Brink and Mrs. G. F. Sprague of Chicago, Mrs. Rose Austin of Woodstock, Darwin Brown and son Lee and daughter Orissa and Melvin Brown of Wauconda, Dexter Brown of Barrington and Mrs. Peal Morris of Almora. An unusually large number from this vicinity were also present at the services.
