She was declared a saint on 19 Jun. 1259 and her body was taken from the original stone coffin and placed in a shrine of pine wood set with gold and precious stones near the high alter. In Scotland the grace cup is called St.Margaret's blessing. When Scotland became Protestant the remains of St.Margaret and her husband were carried to Spain and placed in a chapel in the Escurial built in her honor by King Phillip II.
