Probably a descendant of the Robertian count Cancor, he became the ancestor of the Frankish House of Babenberg (Popponids). Poppo was probably father (or grandfather) of Henry of Franconia, Duke Poppo (II) of Thuringia and Egino. A notable descendant of Poppo's is Queen Elizabeth II.
