    Notes

      Biography
      Ynglingasaga
Olaf Ingjaldsson was son of Ingjald Anundsson and his wife, Gauthild Algautsdottir. When his father died the people rose up against the family of Ingjald and Olaf took his followers to Nerike, but was forced on again, westwards. They settled a district which became Vermeland, cleared the trees and made a good living for themselves. He married Solveig (Solva), daughter of Halfdan Guldtand, who bore him two sons, Ingjald and Halfdan. [1]

      ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Note: Olof Trätälja, was a king of Ynglinga. He is mentioned in Snorri Sturluson's Ynglingasaga in Heimskringla as the the son of Ingjald Illråde. He was raised in Västergötland by Bove, his foster father. Olof settled in Värmland where he cleared the land, earning the nick-name "Treefeller." Overpopulation by those who followed him to Värmland caused a famine; he was accused of neglecting his duty to the gods, and was punished by death in a ritual hall-burning. Another version is that he went to Norway. He was married to Solveig.
