In 1190, Jean de Ponthieu left for the Holy Land during the Third Crusade with King Philip Augustus. He died at the seige of Acre and is buried in the abbey of Saint-Josse de Dommartin on the slopes of Tortefontaine, Pas-de-Calais, France. [2]
