===Research Notes==='''Clues to the ancestry of Francoise de Villers, Dame de Montgobert'''
Francoise de Villers became Dame de Montgobert not due to her ancestry, but because of an exchange of lands made by Antoine de Malortic, Seigneur de Montgobert, which can be found in the following passage:

"May 26, 1507 Antoine de Malortic, squire lord
de Montgobert and Médée de Barenton, his wife, received
sell the fiefs, land and seigneury of Dommiers and cede
in exchange to François de Barbançon, squire, lord
de la Ferté Bliard sur Péron and Françoise de Villershis wife, the "Chastel, fiefs, land and lordship of Montgobert, his affiliations and appendages to the charge of 50 pounds tournaments annuity due to widow of M. de Bazoches and 15 books tournaments with 2 muids of wheat due to the Receiver of Valois”.
On June 14, 1514 Audré de Malortic renounces favor of his brother Antoine to the rights he may have on the land of Montgobert and ratifies the exchange of 26 May 1507. — On March 9, 1526 such waiver by Robert and Florent de Malortic, other brothers of Antoine.

On August 24, 1528, François de Barbançon died.
We find Françoise de Villers, his widow, lady of Moutgobert until 1538 according to different sentences I the marble table, rendered to the subjecthunting, deadwood and grazing rights owned by the lords of Montgobert inthe forest of Retz. In 1519, Marguerite de Barbançon, daughter of François de Barbançon and Françoise de Villers, married Robert de Joyeuse Comte de Graudpré.
On the death of Françoise de Villers in 1538, the seigniory de Montgobert thus passed from the house of Barbançon in that of Joyeuse."Société archéologique, historique et scientifique de Soissons.
