Claude Joseph Faille's uncle, Mathew Faye dit fayette,the son of Claude and Marie Sullier b-1641 at St. Jean, diocese of Clermont, Auvergne, was married to Marguerite Francoise Maureau, the daughter of Francois and Francoise Gardien of St. Sulpice, Paris, on 30, Sept. 1670.Mathew was a soldier in the company La Varenne, Carignan Regiment; he was killed by Iroquois and died 19 Aug. 1695 at Lachine, Canada. We know that Mathew was the Uncle of Claude Joseph Faye who married Jeanne Perras in 1688 at Laprairie and can assume that Mathew's brother, whose name has not as yet been clarified, was the father of Claude Joseph Faye. By inference then since Claude Faye who married Marie Sullier in the early 1600s at St. Jean-d'Aubrigoux was Mathew's father he was also Claude Joseph Faye's grandfather. He is 40 in the census of 1681 at La Prairie, and a soldier in the company of La Varenne, in the Carignan Regiment. His parents are listed as as Claude and Marie Sullier, so they would be the grandparents of Claude who married Jeanne Perras. They were of St Jean d'Aubrigoux, ar LePuy, ev Clernont, Auverne (Haute-Loire).Note: Dit name Lafayette. Resident of St. Jean, Clermont, Auvergne, France.
