==Biography==
{{EuroAristo Sticker}}Constance was the daughter of [[Capet-27|Pierre de France, Seigneur de Courtenay]], (sixth son of Louis VI 'le Gros', King of France), and his wife [[Courtenay-679|Elisabeth de Courtenay, Dame de Courtenay]], and was born circa 1168.[Van Kerrebrouck, Patrick, ''Les Capétiens 987-1328'', Vol 2 of ''Nouvelle histoire généalogique de l'auguste Maison de France'', Villeneuve d'Ascq. 2000. pp. 452-54.]
She married firstly, Gasce de Poissy, Seigneur de Châteaufort (near Paris), who died 14 August 1189. Though it's possible that this isn't confirmed by any primary sources.[Cawley, Charles & Foundation of Medieval Genealogy, [http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/CHAMPAGNE%20NOBILITY.htm#_Toc448070574 'Champagne, Nobility: Chapter 15E Seigneurs de Courtenay 1161-1303 (Capet)'], version 3.7 15 April 2016, in ''Medieval Lands: A prosopography of medieval European noble and royal families''. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/index.htm : viewed 10 August 2016.]
They had issue 1 or possibly 2 daughters;#Mathilde or Mahaut de Châteaufort, perhaps Dame de Châteaufort, married before June 1209, Bouchard I de Montmorency (or de Marly), Sire de Marly, (died 13 September 1226); she died after 25 July 1267 having had issue;[Schwennicke, Detlev (ed.), ''Europäische Stammtafeln'', Neue folge, Band XIV - ''Les Familles Féodales de France II'', Marburg: J.A. Stargardt, 1991. Tafel 120.]; [Cawley, Charles & Foundation of Medieval Genealogy, [http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/PARIS%20REGION%20NOBILITY.htm#GascePoissyMConstanceCourtenay 'Paris Region, Nobility: Chapter 8 Seigneurs de Châteaufort'], version 3.4 18 April 2016, in ''Medieval Lands: A prosopography of medieval European noble and royal families''. http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/index.htm : viewed 10 August 2016.]#?Mabile (or Mabilie) de Châteaufort, Dame de Mondeville, married before 1212, Mathieu de Montmorency (or de Marly), Seigneur de Laye, (died 2 April circa 1249); she made a will in 1254, and died before 31 January 1257. However a second source has Mabile as the daughter of Constance with her second husband (see below).
Constance married secondly, (circa 1190), Guillaume de Breteuil (or 'de la Ferté', or de Le Puiset),[Van Kerrebrouck, calls him 'de Breteuil', Cawley calls him 'de la Ferté' and Schwennicke indicates he is from 'Le Puiset' family] Seigneur de La Ferté-Arnaud et de Villepreux, died before 1231.
They had issue 2 or possibly 3 daughters;#Alix de la Ferté, married (1) before 1208, Simon (surname unknown); (2) Herve de Châteauneuf-en-Thimerais, Seigneur de Brézolles; she died after 1235;
#Julienne, married Guillaume de Tilly; she died after April 1226;#?Mabile de la Ferté, Dame de Mondeville, married before 1212, Mathieu de Montmorency (or de Marly), Seigneur de Laye, (died 2 April circa 1249); she made a will in 1254, and died before 31 January 1257.
Constance died after 1231.
