- She commited suicide over the break up of
 
a man  (William A. Douglass) whom she had 
been living with as his wife but they were 
probably not married. He was married to 
someone else. She went to the Wilbur House 
in Seymour and asked for a room for the 
night. The next day they found her ill and 
discovered an empty ounce vial of Laudanum 
in her bag. Doctors were called but could not save her. 
They found a letter among her things writted 
in pathetic strain, unbraiding Mr. Douglass 
for his desertion of her. It is believed this 
10 Mar 1885 
was her reason for taking her life.N.Y. times
