| Notes |
- Edla was born about 980, probably in Venden, a slavik area. It is assumed that she came to Sweden as a prisoner of war and became the paramour of King Olof Skötkonung. She was the mother of king Emund den gamle of Sweden, the Norwegian queen Astrid Olofsdotter of Sweden and Holmfrid. She passed away about 1010. [1]
Research notes
Western Slavic area or Vendland or Venden would be the best way to pinpoint origin but it is a tough one to crack. Western Slavic area returns with a location error so lets try this one.
Sweden is also incorrect as it did not yet exist, Svearíki would be the old norse name that comes closest meaning the realm of the Swedes and the origin of the name Sverige. But depending on where she died it could have been Svealand or Götaland. Hard to tell.
