Elting Louis B.

Notes:

In 1888 and 1889, Louis was back in Kingston,Ulster County, NY selling clothing, ect. on 23 N. Front and also Saugerties St. Part of 1889, he was on 34 Clinton St. in Kingston.

In 1892, he had a store called Louis Elting and Sons. He was located on 7 John St. in Kingston.

He was a Civil War veteran.

Louis married Brown Justina Sophiah on 25 Jul 1877 in Torrey, Yates Co., NY. Justina (daughter of Brown Wright S. and King Emily B.) was born on 20 Dec 1848 in Torrey, Long Point, Yates Co., NY; died on 08 Jan 1879 in Conquest, Cayuga County, NY; was buried in City Hill Cemetery, Wright Brown, Sr. Plot, Dresden, Yates County, Ny. Notes:

Nealy as he was called, was given to his aunt, Sarah Brown Beard to raise when his mother became too ill to care for him. His mother, Justina Brown Elting, died nine days after he was born according to the family bible in possession of Marjelia Chubb. His father left the area and his death and burial are unknown.

In the 1900 census, he was living in Jerusalem, Yates co. NY with cousin, Louis V. Gelder and wife.

In 1930, Cornelius, age 51, was living in Corning, Steueben county, NY with his wife, Carrie, age 47, who was born in PA. They had married in 1920 and this was their first marriage for each of them. He was 41 and she, 37, at the time of their marriage.

Cornelius married Carrie about 1920. Carrie was born about 1883 in PA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
